It is hard to forget Sridevi in her girl next door avatar mesmerizing millions while singing ‘Kisi ke haath na ayegi, ye Ladki‘. Sridevi, captured the hearts of the Indian audience in that era as she was seen as the first female superstar of the Hindi film industry. Before she ruled the Hindi film industry, she was one of the most sought after name in the Tamil, Telugu and Kannada movie industries too.
News of Sridevi’s death left her fans and the Hindi film industry in a state of shock. One could not escape the charm of the legendary actor be her fan or not, as such was her screen presence that it was hard to ignore her.

1. English Vinglish (2012) – Sole reason to start the list with this movie is due to, being the most fresh performance of Sridevi in her every fan’s memory. Her portrayal of homemaker, Shashi Godbole, being the laughing stock of her family members due to her poor English was perhaps one of her best performances. Shashi would not think of herself much, but when she lands up in America to assist her sister at her niece’s wedding, she realises that she is much more than a poor English speaker.
2. Mr. India (1987) – There are very few Sci-fi Hindi movies that are as good as Mr. India. Sridevi’s role of Seema the feisty reporter, along with Arun Verma aka Mr. India, locks horns with Mogambo to stop him. There is nothing much to say about this cult classic that is nothing short of a superhero movie. Hawa Hawaii, Mogambo khush huwa and the invisibility device will surely put you back into good old memories.
3. Sadma (1983) – Sadma is one the best Hindi emotional movies that you’ll ever come across. Although it tanked at box office in its time, it is one of the finest tragic stories with some great songs in its kitty. The story revolves around the life of Nehalata, who after an accident is diagnosed with retrograde amnesia. She is left with the mental ability of a seven-year-old. She comes across Somu, who starts taking care of her. Sridevi’s role as Nehalata is absolutely brilliant.
4. ChaalBaaz (1989) – This remake of Hema Malini’s Seeta Aur Geeta is as catchy and entertaining as the original. Only Sridevi could have recreated Hema Malini’s magic and she does that with such ease. With stars like Sunny Deol and Rajnikanth, the movie is surely one of the best comedies of Hindi cinema.
5. Chandni (1989) – One of Yash Chopra’s finest movies, Chandni also remains one of Sridevi’s most loved performances. The movie was the highest grosser in its era. Also it won the prestigious National Award too. With stars like Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna, it was one of Hindi cinema’s most intriguing romantic dramas.
